Job Description: Youth Pastor (Full Time Position)
The Youth Pastor at Community Alliance Church has a calling and passion for working with youth. This is a full time position responsible for managing key aspects related to the development and implementation of effective youth ministry for middle school (6th grade) thru high school (12th grade).
Position Summary:
The Youth Pastor reports directly to the Youth Ministry Director as immediate supervisor and is accountable to the Elders, Senior Pastor and the Alliance New England District.
- Overseeing the youth ministry of Community Alliance Church and directing the implementation of its mission and strategic plan.
- Assist in the team based visioning and goals alignment process for youth ministry that includes elders, parents, students, adult volunteers, and members of the church body.
- Spiritually prepare the youth of Community Alliance Church to know who God is, how much He loves them, and how they intend on responding to His love as they discover a clear sense of their identity in Christ.
Responsibilities:
RELATIONSHIPS: The first priority of the Youth Pastor is to ensure that relationships are being built between students, adult volunteers, parents, and the church body by modeling mentoring and aiding in facilitating an inter-generational culture at Community Alliance Church.
- Result #1: The Youth Pastor knows all the students in the youth directory and all parents of crowd thru core students by name.
- Result #2: All first-time guests to youth events receive a timely follow-up providing an easy, welcoming way to join the youth group; as well as, ensuring the parents are receiving a warm, friendly correspondence introducing the CAC Youth Group
- Result #3: At any given time, the Youth Pastor is closely discipling 2-3 students and 1-2 adult volunteers, building spiritual foundations and/or leadership skills thru friendship.
- Result #4: The Youth Pastor serves as a “sounding board” for students and their parents and has an accessible referral list of professional counselors to access when necessary.
- Result #5: The Youth Pastor is engaging the students of CAC families who have not been regularly participating and students from the community on a monthly basis.
- Result #6: A culture of connections and friendships between the youth and church body is fostered, encouraged, and maintained; including the development of a mentoring program for all students interested.
- Result #7: Empowers parents to stay involved in theirs student’s life and spiritual journey while also reminding them of the importance to reach out to peers.
RECRUITING and SUPERVISION: The Youth Pastor coordinates the recruiting, developing, and encouraging of all youth ministry adult volunteers maximizing their effectiveness and growth as they step into their God given purposes.
- Result #8: All weekly hands-on adult volunteers are recruited and have received training at least one month before their terms of service begin.
- Result #9: Regular meetings, in which support, training, and encouragement are provided to the volunteers working hands-on with youth.
- Result #10: Provide annual reviews for all adult volunteers communicating strengths, weaknesses, and soliciting any God directed challenges they sense for their lives.
PROGRAMS: The Youth Pastor ensures that all details of youth programs and special events are taken care of so that a safe atmosphere of belonging and fellowship is created, in which students can encounter God and respond to His call on their lives.
- Result #11: The weekly programs (such as Middle School Service and Sunday evening Youth Group) are appropriately planned for, communicated, and growing in participation, enthusiasm, and excellence.
- Result #12: A curriculum calendar is in place for the youth ministry, and curriculum resources for each year are selected at least one month before the school year begins.
- Result #13: All major events coordinators and other behind-the-scenes volunteers are being recruited a month prior to event and equipped with the information and tools needed to carry out their responsibilities.
- Result #14: The Youth Pastor is present for Sunday morning services and major church events; meeting new students, their families, and connecting with current students.
- Result #15: The Youth Pastor ensures the adherence of all Safe Place guidelines for youth ministry programs, events, and volunteers.
- Result #16: Provide effective outreach, service, and spiritual formation events.
Qualifications:
EDUCATION: An undergraduate degree is required
ABILITIES:
- Good written and verbal (both informal and formal) communication skills
- A professional attitude that is self motivated, self disciplined, humble, and teachable
- Create and administrate budget requirements for the planned year
- Be able to demonstrate interest, experience, and motivation for these ages
- Good time management and organizational skills
- Understands and supports the mission and vision of Community Alliance Church
- Skillful teacher, presenter, and listener

Retirement plans are available through the National C&MA benefits office (www.alliancebenefits.org). Community Alliance Church will match contributions 100% up to 3% of total salary.
OFF HOURS:
Off hours are to be protected vigilantly. Turn off your phone if necessary. In the case of an emergency contact your direct supervisor for guidance and accountability. He will cover the emergency for you, recommend an elder, or release you to serve if necessary.
VACATION & SICK TIME:
- 3 weeks vacation per calendar year without rollover. Requests must be submitted to supervisor 30 days prior to vacation absence.
- 5 paid sick days per calendar year. (Not to be exchanged for extra vacation and no rollover)
NON-WORKING HOLIDAYS:
- New Years Day (Unless on Sunday)
- Memorial Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day (Unless on Sunday)
SABBATH:
Sabbath rest is part of God’s plan. CAC recommends taking a full 24-hour day of rest each week from everything other than the basics of soulful primary family relationships on one of your days off. Not a few hours here and there each week. Productivity and health as it relates to education, employment, parenting and marriage revolve around the spiritual discipline of trusting Christ with Sabbath rest. Don’t avoid it, learn to live it. Sustainability in ministry over the long haul demands Sabbath rest.
PASTORAL CHURCH LIFE:
“Church life” requires that attendance extend above and beyond typical hours of employment as a recognized pastor at CAC. (Weekly life group for a minimum of 6 weeks for at least 3 LG seasons per year, baptism celebrations, 4th of July outreach, “Big Sundays”, Christmas Eve, Live Nativity, Leadership Retreats, etc.) This also involves actively pitching in and helping with set up and clean up.
ONGOING EDUCATION:
CAC values ongoing education and will allow up to 5 hours out of a 40 hour work schedule for study time. Limited financial assistance may also be available based upon multiple factors. Consult your direct supervisor for more information.
